“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”- 1 Timothy 4:12

I stole this idea from Christine Caine’s daily devotional e-mails. (Which you have got to sign up for- they are super quick and a great 1 minute reminder of God’s faithfulness.)

Youthfulness is something that is idolized in Western culture. What’s ironic is everyone wants to look young, but anyone who is young is inadequate to lead properly.

But the Bible encourages us to keep our youthful spirit and have child-like faith. We are to remain like a child in Jesus’s eyes. It doesn’t matter how old you are, God wants to use you. If you are alive and breathing, God has a purpose for you. No matter how young or how old you are, God is renewing your purpose on Earth each day.

Since each of us are leaders, we must act like them. Lead the people around you by showing them how to act like Jesus. Lead them by showing what true kindness, compassion, love, and grace look like. When you do this, it helps keep you accountable to hold a higher standard for yourself and live a more Christ-like life.

You are a leader. Young or old. Sin or not. You have a purpose to lead people into God’s presence.
